GLCC74 Posted October 17, 2021 Share #1 Posted October 17, 2021 Found this helmet this weekend at a local antique mall. M1 with the chinstraps and liner. The liner is the paratrooper version, but missing most of the detachable hardware. The helmet has a heat stamp: 1262 D. Liner has a Capac and Westinghouse logo. The helmet is rear seamed, I believe from around 1945. Any ideas to the age of liner?
The Rooster Posted October 17, 2021 Share #2 Posted October 17, 2021 Looks like there is a gromet in the front? If so its a ww2 westinghouse liner refurbed by capac 1951.

The Rooster Posted October 17, 2021 Share #5 Posted October 17, 2021 The ww2 webbing is khaki and for the Korean war all the webbing was switched OD green. The gromet holes were phased out Mid 1950's.

elh1311 Posted October 17, 2021 Share #7 Posted October 17, 2021 Liner is a 1951 produced CAPAC paratrooper liner with the A-yokes attached outside the A-washers, aka rigger style. CAPAC liners from this era will have a number in the lower left and right hand portions of the cross made by the logo. In this case, the numbers "5" and "1" indicate that this liner was produced in 1951. Typically you will see 51, 52, 53 and occasionally 54 to indicate the year of production. The OD7 HBT webbing is correct for the era as well.

If this was a M2 helmet the chin strap would have a extension with the snap to attach it to the liner. Swap out the liner with another WWII era liner. And find a WWII M1 shell and try to attach a period correct M1C chin strap.
