Bob Hudson Posted October 17, 2021 Share #1 Posted October 17, 2021 This was in a box sitting on the ground at a yard sale this morning. This sailor was in the Navy from 1929 to 1934 and and spent time on the USS Black Hawk, tender to Destroyer Squadron 5 in China and the Philippines. There are a couple of items from the Henderson, but I don't know if he served in that or just went along for the ride.

Salvage Sailor Posted October 17, 2021 Share #5 Posted October 17, 2021 That's pretty good for the depression years as it probably included 'Sea Pay' too.
Bob Hudson Posted October 18, 2021 Author Share #6 Posted October 18, 2021 I went back to the sale and found a document showing him "enlisting" again in November 1942. The photo shows him in a Merchant Marine officer's cap, so he did not rejoin the Navy.
