There were no chinstraps issued with the T-56 series of combat vehicle crewman helmets.

You always impress me with your knowledge of tanker helmets Larry!

Manchu Warrior

I have owned one of these tanker helmets for years and didn't know the proper nomenclature until I read this thread. Thank you!

Now only looking for the comms set.

I've been looking for a T56-6 for a few years, I foolishly passed on a nearly complete one thinking I'd easily find a better one.

Lesson learned.

Love the personalization on this helmet. Having owned a few of these, and actively still using one in a restored M113, the comms on these usually still work with a little TLC. However I think it will be a challenge to locate JUST the comms box and speakers. If you find a source, let me know!

I'm having a hard time finding good pics of just the comms box & speakers. I may have  source but he needs a good pic of what it looks like. He buys anything vintage radio.

Thanks

Wasn't there an earlier version? Or did I read an article wrong.

A pic of model # for him too.

Thanks

The helmet you have would have used the same style as the helmet I posted. Only difference could have potentially been a hexagonal microphone instead of the tear drop shaped.

Not sure I saw a model number I’ll check. But it’s a pretty unique looking piece to the helmet so it should stick out to him.

I see the comms set on eBay quite often.  They usually go for less than $20.
