none Posted February 11, 2009 Share #1 Posted February 11, 2009 Got some bad news for all of you. I just got in some mess dress HALO wings and they are made from pot metal. These are hallmarked D-22 and are sold via clothing sales so they have to meet government specs. I had read a while back that the IOH was going to accept die casting for insignia, so it appears they have and the quality has gone down another notch. Chrome plated zinc. none Posted February 11, 2009 Author Share #3 Posted February 11, 2009 Chrome plated zinc... Yucky is an excellent term for this insignia. I am wondering what else is being made this way.

Sadly, the way Uncle Sam is running up deficits... the next step is likely bakelite or plastic!

craig_pickrall Posted February 11, 2009 Share #6 Posted February 11, 2009 Think how much money the GOVT could save if they just have all of the military gear made in China. They could start with uniforms and insignia and then move to individual gear and weapons and if the Chinese do all right then they could get all the ships, planes and big weapons made there too. Another advantage is when we need to fight a war in that reagon all the equipment will already be there.
Teamski Posted February 11, 2009 Share #7 Posted February 11, 2009 Well, I knew things went way downhill when challenge coins had better detailing than our medals..... -Ski
