RDUNE Posted October 10, 2021 Share #1 Posted October 10, 2021 Picked this up yesterday and haven't been able to find another example. Any idea what DSP stands for on the bottom, or the 6/60 in the middle? Thanks, -Ryan
Proud Kraut Posted October 10, 2021 Share #2 Posted October 10, 2021 Could it be 6th Bn 60th Air Defense Artillery and Defense Standardisation Programm? I think the unit served in Germany during cold war.

Thanks for your input, I will focus my research efforts in that direction 🙂 -Ryan
gwb123 Posted October 10, 2021 Share #4 Posted October 10, 2021 DSP apparently was some form of data processing. "* AN/MPQ-62 (Phase III)Some changes to the signal processing allow the radar to determine the targets' range and speed in a single scan. A digital DSP system is added which allows a lot of the processing work to be done on the radar directly and forwarded directly via a serial digital link to the PCP/BCP." PCP: Platoon Command Post BCP: perhaps Battery Command Post? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MIM-23_Hawk I later found it referred to as part of the Defense Support Program, which integrated data that detected missile launches. http://www.bits.de/NRANEU/BMD/documents/BMDO95.pdf There are other references to the DSP being a physical building, probably where this data was received and analyzed. vzemke Posted October 15, 2021 Share #5 Posted October 15, 2021 My vote is for Direct Support Platoon, which was an actual type of unit that provided…. Direct Support… to a Hawk Missile Battery.
