blademan Posted October 10, 2021 Share #1 Posted October 10, 2021 Hi Just picked this pin back This is a Meyers marked badge. It was on a uniform named to a Robert Mott. I posted the uniform in the navy uniform section. Can anyone give me an idea of the age of this? I was told the owner was a Wwii navy officer. Josh B. Posted October 11, 2021 Share #2 Posted October 11, 2021 Meyer made tons of off beat variants and they can be tricky to date. Yours has “nailhead” style pins which are uncommon for the manufacturer, and not congruent with attributed WW2 clutch backs I’ve seen. The die strike here is very similar to the WWII dies, but Meyer kept using the same ones into the 50s. The clutches are definitely post war. My best guess is Korean War era or so…
blademan Posted October 11, 2021 Author Share #3 Posted October 11, 2021 Josh, Thanks for your input. The seller did say he replaced the clutch backs and they are maker marked "Bal Lou reg." to a different maker. The Meyers name seems to be mirror image. Like the mold was stamped with a meyers stamp. Thanks again
