Hello - I am US Army (Retired) and am primarily interested in WWII but also enjoy a wide range of historical topics.  At the moment I am working on WWII US Navy; specifically, the USS Forrest DD-461 (DMS-24; USS Alabama BB-60; USS Enterprise CV-6 and VT-10;  and USS San Diego CL-53.  Also, 80th Infantry Division; Tank Destroyer Units to include the 607th TD Bn.  USMC MAG 24, VMSB-244. And, the 339th Fighter Group, 8th Air Force, and the (B-29) 873rd Squadron, Very Heavy, 498th Bomb Group, 73rd wing, 20th A.F.  Cheers!

-Researching the US Navy Gleaves-class destroyer ship: USS Forrest DD-461 (later converted on 15Nov1944 to a destroyer-minesweeping ship with a new hull designation: DMS-24)
-Would greatly appreciate any information regarding the history of the ship and its crew members including the ship's newsletter; the "Oak Chips."
