phantomfixer Posted October 6, 2021 Share #1 Posted October 6, 2021 on ebay now, it is live but I do not think anyone is gonna bid on it here...it does have a odd mod snaps, female, sewn on the back side... https://www.ebay.com/itm/284411493451?hash=item42383efc4b:g:h14AAOSwg5BhGbrT
dmar836 Posted October 6, 2021 Share #2 Posted October 6, 2021 Good night! Interesting mod but did Doolittle or Clark Gable wear it? It's not in great shape. I'd guess even with receivers and cups and the mod it wouldn't go over $200-250 if buyers set the price. Dave
The Rooster Posted October 6, 2021 Share #3 Posted October 6, 2021 The sellers page is like a walk through a a clothing section at good will but with crazy high prices. Used clothes and even used shoes. The helmet is beat. The leather is beat. $1500.00 is nuts !!!!
dmar836 Posted October 7, 2021 Share #4 Posted October 7, 2021 And we've all heard it, even on here, "Those things are going for $XXXX..." when much of these assumptions are from eBay and FB ads like this. Just people swinging for the fence with nothing to lose. Over time it does have an influence on the viewers. It's almost considered "okay" and just personal choice anymore to behave in this obviously predatorial way instead of being a negative thing. It's an interesting helmet mod but the price almost makes me not care or want to discuss what those snaps are for. Almost. Dave

They put high prices because they probably don’t want to sell anything but promised their spouse they would get rid of it.

manayunkman Posted October 8, 2021 Share #8 Posted October 8, 2021 With all due respect they are out of their wheelhouse and not quite sure what it is. Is it a B-5 or B-6? A B-6 with coms and a mask sold recently on eBay for 177.
manayunkman Posted October 8, 2021 Share #9 Posted October 8, 2021 The snaps could be for an oxygen mask rig of some sort or for goggles? I sent the seller a message and they answered back. They don’t know much about Militaria. They are open to suggestions.
phantomfixer Posted October 9, 2021 Author Share #10 Posted October 9, 2021 Fairly certain it is a B6 the B5 did not have the hooks for the A9 mask the mod is still a mystery did they say how they came up with 1500?
manayunkman Posted October 9, 2021 Share #11 Posted October 9, 2021 They saw one for $700 and thought 1500 would be a good place to start. They were eager to find out why they were wrong. Whether they do anything about it is another story.
