Maelwima Posted October 3, 2021 Share #1 Posted October 3, 2021 Hi everyone, I created this topic to ask for your help regarding the 505th PIR patch ww2 era. I was looking all around the forum and there is a couple of topics regarding it but they don't answer my question. I was able to gather a couple of information about it. There was no official patch, they were not worn on uniforms. There was one sold throught the veteran's newsletter "boots and chute". But so far I find two different type of patches that are called "ww2 era". What Can you Tell me about those two ?
Allan H. Posted October 4, 2021 Share #2 Posted October 4, 2021 The patch on the left is NOT WWII era and was made for collectors. The one on the right is a Boots version and the white felt shows quite a bit of soiling. Allan
Maelwima Posted October 4, 2021 Author Share #3 Posted October 4, 2021 Thank you very much for those information. So, would you say that the one on the right would be more "official" for soldiers of the 505th PIR?
Allan H. Posted October 4, 2021 Share #4 Posted October 4, 2021 If you are looking for a space filler to represent the 505th PIR in WWII, this one on the right would be fine. Just realize that it was never worn by any of the soldiers of the 505th during WWII. Allan
