A couple of Craigslist Robeson USMC knives.

I drove out to buy an old RH36 I found on CL.

The seller had these two USMC Robeson Ka Bars, so I acquired them as well.

All very reasonably priced.

I am pretty sure they have both had their original pommels replaced.

Is there any interest in them, or are these just two more examples of altered modified knives of little collectable value?

Fist 8 images are the knives as found.

The last image shows the blades after being wiped down (gently) with an oily rag.

Ka Bars are not my thing, these were just low hanging fruit.

Cannot edit the title.

But I was really trying to ask was more learned folks opinions on these two knives, really. Ka Bar are just not my thing.

Thanks :)

I'm interested in pretty much any knife that's reasonably priced. The  grips certainly appear to have been modified and the pommels replaced but the blades are in decent shape and sheaths look good. I like them.

The Robeson USMC blades were notorious for having weak pommels that became detached more easily than those of other makers.  Field repairs ranging from the crude to pretty slick are often seen.

The blade on the left is nice enough to deserve a quality grip and pommel restoration.  There are at least a couple of guys on our Forum here with the level of skill needed to get the repair done right. You may want to look into that.

Charlie

Thank you, Charlie,

That sounds perfect - I'd like one Ka Bar for the collection.

If any of them wish to contact me, I'm at: [email protected]

I would be interested in discussing.

The rougher blade I think I'll let go.

Thanks!

Jesse.

Hi there forum,

If there are any restorers here who, are interested in restoring the pommel (can be a modern replacement pommel from Ebay) on the knife on the left (in the top photo) for me.

I am interested in paying.

Or you could have the knife on the right as payment, either ways, drop me a PM if you'd like a quick little project.

Any member want to send a restorer my way, please feel free.

Thanks,

Jesse.

Jesse:

Now that your blades have been restored could you post a couple of pics of them?  We love blade pics around here.

Will do, when they arrive back here.

These are my first Ka Bars, I'm really into the more specialized fighters.
