Krupp Posted October 2, 2021 Share #1 Posted October 2, 2021 Greetings! At first, I would like to say that I'm new here and I don't know almost nothing about USA military. I'm from Finland (europe) and one day I found this cool looking M1 helmet from flea market. It was very cheap like 10$ so I decided, why not to buy it. My question will be "is this danish M1 helmet, or is it someones costum made USA M1 helmet?" I tried to do some research and one danish m48 helmet have similar straps. Also I have feeling that maybe this is overpainted, and I think that I will see some gray paint inside? Liner have these readings DSA - 100 - "68-C"? -2409 / 8415-153-8871 / Liner soldier steel helmet "Combat ..?..36" Thanks!
Steve B. Posted October 2, 2021 Share #2 Posted October 2, 2021 The chinstraps look like the ones we started getting in the early 1980s. Yours are installed incorrectly. They should angle towards the wearers chin. The cover looks just like the ones we got in West Germany as early as 1978. I'm not going to comment on the rest of the helmet since I am not an expert, but I think you got a good deal.
Bugme Posted October 2, 2021 Share #3 Posted October 2, 2021 This looks to be all U.S. parts on this helmet. For $10, great deal.
earlymb Posted October 3, 2021 Share #4 Posted October 3, 2021 Yes, it has been over-painted... a bunch of times. :)
