ww2collector985 Posted October 1, 2021 Share #1 Posted October 1, 2021 I wanted to share one of my Arisaka bring backs. The Type 99 and bayonet were brought back by Charles Tomlinson, USN, and comes with the capture paper(that has the rifle’s sn) authorizing him to bring them home. Tomlinson served aboard the LST 760 and participated in the battle of Iwo Jima and Okinawa. She then went one to serve in occupation duty until December 1945. Tomlinson put a coat of varnish over the whole rifle, attached one of his dog tags to the butt stock and stamped his initials in the bayonet grips. I was able to find some pics of the LST 760 while it was at Iwo. Just a really cool rifle that is one of my favorites.

jangle Posted October 6, 2021 Share #16 Posted October 6, 2021 Great piece. Pacific campaign serial numbered paperwork is not near as prevalent as bring-backs from Europe.
