CavalryCombatant Posted September 23, 2021 Share #1 Posted September 23, 2021 Howdy folks, I’ve noticed that some musette bags have a tab on the back of them, similar to that seen on M1928 haversacks; and was wondering if anyone is familiar with the purpose of the tab? I’m setting up a basic NCO mannequin and was planning to use one with a tab as a field pack- would this be correct for late 1944-early 1945? Any help would be appreciated, as field gear isn’t my cup of tea. Thanks, CC
robinb Posted September 23, 2021 Share #2 Posted September 23, 2021 The tab started showing up in 1944. And all 1945 musette bags have them.

What would the purpose for them be? I’m scratching my head as to what it’d be for- bayonets seem out of place and I can’t image you’d want to wear your Etool on the farthest part of your pack.
