Gold and Silver Lifesaving Awards

Hello

I was just wondering are these awards  still struck in Gold and Silver? I see  a" silver" one in a local auction and it doesn't look silver to me. So how do you classify a modern manufacture un-named example? Is it a copy or just a recent strike?

Thanks

Jim

They are no longer struck in precious metal. It is exceedingly cost prohibitive.
I can speak to Silver Lifesaving in that I believe they were last struck in silver in 1949 then transitioned to the current silver finish. I’ve attached a 1949 version after the transitional obverse in which the date was changed from 1874 to 1949. It is struck in silver

Thanks for clearing that up for me. I have always like the Lifesaving Medal.. Interesting variants during the period of the change over.
