What a FANTASTIC photo! The DUIs are really nice on the o/seas cap nd lapels, but the real diamond in the photo is the overseas cap patch! It is a tough one to find and often mis-identified as a school patch.

Another Find

 

James N Foley 88th GIR, but he is reassigned as an individual replacement, and winds up in the 115th Infantry 29th Infantry Division, and is KIA August 3, 1944 around the Tessy-sur-Vire area.

seen this interesting photo, from December 1941, as the 88th Airborne Infantry Battalion. You'll note non of the men wear the DUI, the DUI, is in fact the Coat of Arms of the Battalion, the DUI is not adopted till March 1942.
