The old mess dress chevrons in these colors were also made in true bullion wire embroidery. The stripes and star are thicker and heavier. I've been told that both types were sold and used concurrently and the tinsel chevrons were just cheaper than the real bullion. Nevertheless, you have some nice examples there and any of these obsolete mess dress USAF chevrons are not all that easy to find anymore. Thanks for showing these.
