Semi-auto or revolver?

Recommended Posts

Wondering how it was determined which of the two pistol types were issued pilots and aircrew. I've looked at pictures and see a mix.

From what I’ve seen, Navy and Marine Corps pilots usually carried a Victory Model S&W.38 revolver. Army Air Force issued M1911 .45 Autos.

you rarely see photographic evidence of army pilots with revolvers or navy pilots with autos.

What era are you thinking of? In the 1950s the Air Force went to revolvers.

I was Army aircrew.  Between 1987 and 1990, I received a S&W .38 revolver, then a M1911, then a Colt .38 revolver marked to the Border Patrol with no rifling left, then a M9.

 

IOW, total crap shoot.
