T-97 Canister & Parachute

I had recently bought this & I was wondering if anybody knew what it would have been used for originally? It's fairly small, only about 18" in length on the outer tube. The outer tube is made of metal on the sides & wood on the end. The inner tuber is all wood. I am guessing there should be another 1/2 of the outer tube, making the overall length approximately 36". "T-97" is stamped on the sides & end. I am not sure if the parachute goes with it, but it was stuffed into the tube when I bought it.

You have the nose piece for a CRT-2 Radio Jamming Bomb.  It originally contained the antenna wire that extended out the front when the tail parachute deployed.
