NEW UPDATE - Scroll down to the latest update for July 20, 2022

___________________________

You may or may not have noticed the new sub-forum headers in the USMF helmet section. This is a new work in progress. We are trying to make the helmet forum an easier place to reference helmets. The old Helmet Reference section is now gone.

You might be thinking: "WHAT?!?!... I didn't know there even was a helmet reference section!" Don't feel bad, neither did anyone else. The reference section had become a ghost town. As a result, we did a rethink.

So now, if you have an M-1, M-2 or M-1C helmet comment, you can post it in that section and be assured, that those pesky M1917, Kevlar and all other "non-important" helmets won't clutter up the page and hide your comment.

And all you M-1917, Kevlar, Experimental, Tanker, Flak... Helmet guys can finally see your comment stay at the top of a page longer so that it finally gets seen in its respective section. No longer will you suffer watching your thread get shoved down the page without comment because of all those pesky M-1, M-2 & M-1C guys who forget that the U.S. had in the past and continue to use many other style of helmets.

Now, I say all the above in jest but, you get the idea. Easier reference, better focus and just a nicer place for the helmet guys to post. As stated, this is a work in progress and may take a few weeks as we(Nkomo, Mr.Jerry and myself) move in excess of 15,000 helmet threads. So, be patient, it'll get there soon.

In the meantime, take a browse through the new sections, see what you think. Feel free to comment or suggest... just be nice. 😀

BTW, the MISC. Section will also get a new name, we can't decide what to call it just yet

I think the Navy talker ones might end up with the tanker/CD/experimentals just based on the numbers.  Although there are plenty of M1 navy helmets in the M1 section, But we will see what Scott says. We had to draw lines somewhere without making too many boxes.

Right now the Navy Talkers are kinda the red headed step child. We are currently putting them in the:

HELMET PRESERVATION, DISPLAY, REFERENCE & MISC. section. Once we have everything moved, we can see where we are at and then make a determination as to where they best fit and adjust accordingly.

Update: Work is proceeding nicely as we now have over 12,000 threads moved into their new categories. Only about 2,500 left and this phase of the helmet forum update will be complete.

Well, we got all threads moved into their proper places. Thanks to Mr. Jerry and Nkomo! This was a monumental task that we thought would take months but, the three of us knocked these out in two weeks. Enjoy the new format. More tweaks are coming in the future.

Is there a spot for Navy Talker helmets?

You'll be happy to find that we added an exclusive USN / CG helmet section. We found an abundance of talker helmets while going though all the threads. Now, ALL Navy helmets, including Talkers, are in that section.

UPDATE: You will now find a new helmet sub-section dedicated to the helmets of the non-combatant: Chaplain, Medic, Doctor, Nurse, AFS etc. We hope you will like this new category as we seek to improve your experience on the USMF.

Let us know what you think.
