Howlingriffon Posted September 7, 2021 Share #1 Posted September 7, 2021 I don't think they go with the uniform but are pretty cool.
manayunkman Posted September 7, 2021 Share #2 Posted September 7, 2021 What makes you think they do not go with the uniform?
Howlingriffon Posted September 7, 2021 Author Share #3 Posted September 7, 2021 I can't find a record of Congleton being awarded the Bronze Star but my research so far has been pretty limited. The laundry number isn't him but it may be for Alphonse Mancini, Laddie Mayer or Jesse Milam. All were awarded the Bronze and Mancini also has the Silver Star. That came from a 65th Div roster so who knows what other units may show. They were attached a lot.
postmanusnac Posted September 7, 2021 Share #4 Posted September 7, 2021 Well, Congleton was a Corporal and was wounded at least once.
postmanusnac Posted September 7, 2021 Share #5 Posted September 7, 2021 There are also two hospital admission cards for that name and ASN, both indicate he was in the tank corps.
Howlingriffon Posted September 7, 2021 Author Share #6 Posted September 7, 2021 hmmm. This was picked up in Troy AL, right up the road from Ft Rucker...
postmanusnac Posted September 7, 2021 Share #7 Posted September 7, 2021 I'd say its definitely him. He passed away in 1988 and is buried in Alabama. It looks like he was originally from New Jersey and without spending too much time researching it I don't know when he would've located to Alabama.
