robinb Posted September 5, 2021 Share #1 Posted September 5, 2021 Not mine yet, but the owner was OK with me posting it for opinions. Reportedly came from a Seabee's estate. The anchor, lightning bolt insignia is on both sides, and a large letter F on the front.
Salvage Sailor Posted September 5, 2021 Share #2 Posted September 5, 2021 Looks like a yardbird (shipyard) hardhat to me. Very similar to the one I wore, same color and same fiberglass material for the shell. This could easily be a CB or USN worn hardhat and the insignia could be custom made by the Sailor, not necessarily for a specific unit.
robinb Posted September 5, 2021 Author Share #3 Posted September 5, 2021 So you're thinking more of a stateside yard worker, i.e. loading ships? I tend to agree. I've been looking at pictures on line all afternoon and only see them at ship yards stateside. But nothing has turned up with that insignia so far. Salvage Sailor Posted September 5, 2021 Share #4 Posted September 5, 2021 Right & Right, it's 100% an USN Anchor and the red lightning bolt embellishment is (?) Any idea of his unit? There's a lot more to CB's than Construction Battalions (Port, Cargo, Transport, etc. etc.)
robinb Posted September 5, 2021 Author Share #5 Posted September 5, 2021 Got it from an estate sale promoter. Don't know who owned it originally.
