AZPhil Posted September 2, 2021 Share #1 Posted September 2, 2021 Hello All, I really wasn't looking for one of these, but I picked up an A-8B on the cheap side. I got it to fill a spot until a real WW2 version comes along. But the reason it was on the cheap is because the hose is missing. and the bag is tied on.....Need a clamp!!! It only has a remnant of the hose attached to the hose fitting. So I can cut that piece off and get the ID and OD of the size tubing/hose I need to buy, But How Long is the Hose??? In photo's it looks between 3 to 4 feet. Any help would be appreciated. Semper Fi Phil Here are a couple pic's of what I got and the problem. dmar836 Posted September 3, 2021 Share #2 Posted September 3, 2021 Not sure how long they used that same bayonet fitting. The clamps are not extremely rare in that they are found on vintage aircraft hoses. Many have been tossed and replaced with worm hose clamps but some of us still have them on our larger 2 1/2" - 3" scat tubing. I'll have to keep an eye out for some smaller ones when I'm out at the airport next. Dave
AZPhil Posted September 3, 2021 Author Share #3 Posted September 3, 2021 Thank you Dave!!! And thanks for the photo of the clamp!!! If you do find a spare that you would consider selling , I'm All In!!! Time to hit up an O'Reilly's and and check out their tubing selection. Thanks again!! dmar836 Posted September 3, 2021 Share #4 Posted September 3, 2021 Sure. I'd look for the "rubberiest" hose you can find. Anything automotive will be too heavy duty IMO. It wouldn't last forever but it doesn't need to. I'm sure there is something affordable online that would look better but that's JMO. Dave
AZPhil Posted September 20, 2021 Author Share #5 Posted September 20, 2021 Hey Dave, I took your advice about the tubing and started looking into something lightweight. I got out the caliper and took some measurement's. Then I found some black Latex surgical tubing for sale on the bay. that fit those dimensions needed. But had to look deeper for less than a 50 foot roll!!! I don't need that much. Paid $23 for 15 foot section and it was closer to 20' , So I have extra if you would like some!!! Here it is one step closer to "Da Look" Old section and the new tubing installed. Looks pretty close to me. The old rubber just crumbled when I was trying to remove it from the plastic tube fitting. Thank You Dave for your help with this!!! Semper Fi Phil
AZPhil Posted October 14, 2021 Author Share #6 Posted October 14, 2021 Hello All, I've had some time to pick up the hose and the O2 fitting and I would like to give a Big Thanks to Dave for his help. I know I need to get a B-3 life preserver to make it fit the time frame a little better. Also some that know what I have shared here is that is not a USAAF B-2 but its US Navy cousin. I'm still looking for a set of leather straps to give it that WW2 look. If I can't find a set I'll see if I can make a set myself.. Eventually this will go on my Crusher for that 12 O clock High look!!! Here it is!! The fitting and hose I picked up. The hose is only 3" so I kept the section I cut from the hose I picked up' Semper Fi Phil
