Steindaddie Posted August 28, 2021 Share #1 Posted August 28, 2021 Given that the "flight path" of this patch's B-52 emanates from the region in Texas where Dyess AFB is located, I would hazard a guess that it is from that base's 7th or 96th Bomb Wing. I've had this patch so long (early 80s) that I no longer remember its details (Young collectors, ID your patches now or suffer the same fate) Patch measures 4" Thanks! Randy Posted August 29, 2021 Share #2 Posted August 29, 2021 Bill, it would have been from the 96 BMW, the 7 BW didn't stand up there until 1993. So the only squadron then was the 337 BMS. As the 337 converted from the tall, black tailed B-52D to the white undersides (then) B-52H in 1982 I would surmise what you have here is a 337 BMS B-52H Training Flight patch helping D model crews with change over. There were many differences between the two, so it makes sense. Randy
Steindaddie Posted August 29, 2021 Author Share #3 Posted August 29, 2021 Randy, I don't know why I thought the 7th was at Dyess back then (no doubt an age-related lapse). I'll chalk up this patch as related to the 337th BMS. Thanks as always. ~Bill
