Kenny80a Posted August 21, 2021 Share #1 Posted August 21, 2021 I picked this para badge up not long ago and was wondering if there was any way to tell the maker on it. Its unmarked on the reverse. All help is appreciated.
Tonomachi Posted August 21, 2021 Share #2 Posted August 21, 2021 I've always felt these were South Korean made US paratrooper wings. I have seen them in a Korean War era 187th RCT grouping and another time on a hand made 187th RCT oval. However they could also be Japanese made because soldiers traveled between the two countries during the war. I've come across examples with larger circular bases for the clutch back pins and others where the reverse stamped effect is more pronounced. They all share these extreme pointy shoulders which is unique to this style of paratrooper wing.
Kenny80a Posted August 23, 2021 Author Share #3 Posted August 23, 2021 Cool! Thanks for the information. I kinda thought they might have been Japanese or some other theater made wings.
