usmedalman Posted August 8, 2021 Share #1 Posted August 8, 2021 If a WWI vet qualified for a Silver Star and applied for it around late 1930s or early 1940s would it have been engraved as the Purple Hearts were?

KASTAUFFER Posted August 23, 2021 Share #3 Posted August 23, 2021 During the 30's Even a few Indian Wars vets and some Span Am / Philippine Insurrection vets also received Silver Star medals. Kurt
Dave Posted August 23, 2021 Share #4 Posted August 23, 2021 And the engraving style followed throughout the years. A WW1 veteran who applied in 1947-1949 would have received a script engraved medal, after that, a machine engraved medal, and so on (I think all of the styles WW1 awards have been found to be engraved have been posted on here at one point or another...finding them is another matter entirely...) 😄
