Hi,

 

Does anyone have a maker marked example of this pattern of Observer Badge?

 

This particular example has a STERLING stamp hiding under the pin (right of centre). I've seen this same pattern unmarked. I have a solid back version with the same obverse pattern as well.

 

From the construction, I'd guess it is early or pre-WW2 vintage.

 

Note that there are some features that clearly distinguish it from similar looking early Meyer and AECo wings. To start with, note the style of the inner feathering and "stumpy" appearance (circled).

 

Bob's site does not have one, so unfortunately no help there this time around.

It looks like the Josten pattern to me.  Can you share a photo of the back as well?  These photos show all the different backs of the Observers I have in this pattern along with a photo of the fronts.

There should be a photo of the reverse loaded above. Loading again just in case.

 

Yes, looks like the same pattern as the Josten-marked example. I'm missing one of those!

Looks like a Josten made badge with the shoulder pattern and that large block pin.
