A friend has asked me to sell this patch and before i list it I want to be sure it is an original.

It appears to be embroidered on a dull yellow wool.

Can any one help?

I am not expert on these, and I am sure there are many variations, but here is an example that is in the Iowa Gold Star Museum.

Thank you! This helps.

I posted this twice by mistake, perhaps you can delete one of the postings?

For purposes of making collectors fully aware, here is my reply to Mr. Hal or “52m37” who pm’d me recently. My humble 2 shekels opinion:

“Good evening from Asia,

Sorry for late reply as I’m in travel work and won’t get back Europe where my tigers hobby is located.

Oops, please don’t buy this as these are 80s fakes. When there is wool cloth or leather, that is the post period AVG Flying Tigers.

Before the U.S. came in after mid June 1942, all AVG material were done in khaki or silk, which were abundant in British India or The few remaining free provinces of China (which had the silk worms dining on the local mulberry forests among the mountains of Yunnan and Sichuan provinces)

Your patch bullion is worth about $25-$30 at most.”

Happy weekend all,

jose
