pharbor1941 Posted August 3, 2021 Share #1 Posted August 3, 2021 Here's a grouping that belongs to a buddy of mine who also owns the Myers Brevet group I posted awhile back. My buddy is/was a dealer/collector of old books particularly any Civil War book/military manuals printed in the south during the civil war. My buddy was on the quest for books and visiting a granddaughter of a retired military general back in the 70's and stumbled upon this group. The house keeper of the retired general named "Lucy" also worked for Mrs. Lejeune. Lucy arranged the meeting with Mrs. Lejeune. My buddy was able to purchase these books and medals directly from her. Some of the books were presented to Lejeune by some well known authors, one presented by Theodore Roosevelt Jr.

warguy Posted August 4, 2021 Share #7 Posted August 4, 2021 I just have to add that I have six original letters from John W. Thomason Jr., and of course they all match his signature and handwriting in the books shown here. Thomason is an idol of mine, really special to see his signed books to Lejeune. Can’t stop looking at this....and wiping up drool.
Kurt Barickman Posted August 4, 2021 Share #8 Posted August 4, 2021 Very historic, so many of the legends of the Old Corps and documentation is impeccable! Thanks for sharing. Kurt

Dave Posted August 4, 2021 Share #10 Posted August 4, 2021 Simply amazing. Possibly one of the most historic groups of items ever posted here.
normaninvasion Posted August 5, 2021 Share #11 Posted August 5, 2021 Thank you for taking the time to post this. Incredible collection. Pretty much the package of WW1 USMC titles, signed, and off the shelf of Lejeune. Nice to see these all together.
Brig Posted August 28, 2021 Share #12 Posted August 28, 2021 I have a large collection on convention medals named to one of Lejeune's good friends...Smedley Butler. Fairly similar to some of these (no 2d Division of course). Is your friend looking to sell or insure, because that is likely to effect the value
