scottplen Posted July 31, 2021 Share #1 Posted July 31, 2021 Picked these off eBay sell had 31 certificates for crazy money all listed separately. I made offers of the 5 most important in my eyes ? the rest OLC awards for AM. I am leaning toward him being original Airmobile with the dates ? But could also be Early 101st airborne ? not finding much other that he enlisted 1952 retired 1972 and died 1997 he was African American thankful for any help on unit ? also believe these are earlier Heroism BS documents . so I assume a BS with V ? 29 air medals
scottplen Posted July 31, 2021 Author Share #2 Posted July 31, 2021 Only thing I found on him map matches date on BS for 1st Airmobile but sure could be 101st ?
scottplen Posted August 1, 2021 Author Share #3 Posted August 1, 2021 so by the C W Eifler signature he was 1st logistical command . now was he a crew chief or a door gunner on a helicopter ? How would he have 3 bronze stars for heroism for ground combat in 1st logistical ? most other documents I have are signed by commander of there units . so by signature he would be 1st logistical . scottplen Posted August 12, 2021 Author Share #7 Posted August 12, 2021 Picked up from same seller ! 2nd AM olc and 3rd OLC certificates with the dates that coincide with IA Drang ! I still feel this guy was Airmobile but can’t find anything on him ?
scottplen Posted August 23, 2021 Author Share #8 Posted August 23, 2021 I have been informed he was most likely in a MACV unit originally with the Westmorland signature on his 1st 5 air medal documents and then 1st logistical after 1965 ? Guess only way is to get his file from NARA .
KASTAUFFER Posted August 26, 2021 Share #9 Posted August 26, 2021 There is a special place " you know where" for people that split up a document group like this. Glad you were able to keep part of it together. Kurt
