GLCC74 Posted July 30, 2021 Share #1 Posted July 30, 2021 Here is one of my favorite firearms in my collection a nice early 1942 M1, serial number 496328. The stock has a boxed "SA/GHS" cartouche for Superintendent Brigadier General Gilbert H. Stewart, who was at the armory from October of 1940 to June of 1942. It also has the large ordnance wheel stamp. The barrel is stamped "S-A-2-42" and is inverted which was done until later in 1942.

brad k Posted August 2, 2021 Share #8 Posted August 2, 2021 thats a nice one to have, the early ones usualy are either rebuilt or lend lease guns and you still have the flush nut sights on it. is the face of the chamber shiney (in the white) as they call it or is it parkerized? sundance Posted August 5, 2021 Share #13 Posted August 5, 2021 Very nice Garand. My only complaint about a Garand is that as I get older it gets heavier.

jmd62 Posted August 5, 2021 Share #15 Posted August 5, 2021 Ha! After handling my Garand then grabbing my Ruger 10/22, it almost like it lifts itself in comparison :D

GLCC74 Posted August 5, 2021 Author Share #18 Posted August 5, 2021 Well its a British made one for the Belgian Army, not a US made one, but they look almost identical.
GLCC74 Posted August 6, 2021 Author Share #19 Posted August 6, 2021 Here is my Lewis Gun, it has a repro sling, as real ones are impossible to find. Additionally shown is a repro magazine carrier that held 4 drums. These are near impossible to find as well.

These original Garands are starting to get hard to find now IMO. Thanks for sharing.
