US 4.7" Shell

Here is a nice item from my collection, a US 4.7 inch (120mm) shell. This shell was to be used for the M1906 guns, with the first ones being delivered in 1911. The M1906 was one of the few pieces the US military had up until WW1, our forces mainly used European models overseas, however a few M1906 guns did make it overseas, but not many. Most of these guns were used for training stateside and after the war, used for coastal artillery and for defense of Panama Canal.
