Kansas Raider Posted July 28, 2021 Share #1 Posted July 28, 2021 Here is a small grouping belonging to CPL Elton F Hensel. I received these directly from the the family (grand uncle). He was the flight engineer. The plane B24J- #42-50780 was on a bomb training run. They left Muroc Army Air Field now Edwards Air Force Base. After completing their run at the bombing range and while descending through the 10,000 foot level. went out of control and entered a steep spin and began coming apart in the air. All crew members died on 2 July 1944. He was from Missouri and is on the DeKalb county Missouri World War 2 Honor List and also on the University of Missouri Student and Alumni Casualties List.
