Question regarding the M4A2 Flak helmet

I've just acquired one of these and asking what was worn underneath it?

Was it a cloth helmet like the AN-H-15 below, or similar, or was there another hardshell helmet or helmet liner worn underneath?

I too frequently do not get notifications from USMF, so please email me at my username at gmail.com to let me know you've replied here.

Thanks!

My M4A2 and a cloth helmet I am considering to add to the display head

I believe they were donned when over flak filled skies. So whatever was being worn, cloth or leather, that's what would be underneath.

Agreed. No special under wear indicated. In flak filled skies, I would need special underwear but that's a different story.

I'm guessing it would depend on how cold it would be at altitude?

Low level in the Pacific Theater ?... cloth flight helmet. Baseball cap?

High altitude something else.
