This is for sale in my area, I'm not interested in buying but am posting to see if it's a cool one. Been for sale for a while; overpriced?

It is not a Mark 1 but is a pilot's survival knife, (pre 1957). I believe it is a Camillus knife, shown as #7, page 77 of Cole III and #3 page 644 of Bill Walters book. I think it might be a little overpriced without a sheath. I don't think it is rare as I have a couple.

From what Frank Trzaska wrote about these knives the sterile ones should be Camillus made.  I agree that these really aren't rare but are often mis-identified.  IMHO, the knife is very over priced, but maybe I'm stuck in the past.  I usually pass on knives without a proper sheath most times these days.

Doctorofwar

It seems overpriced to me as well.

A lot of things have come to light since Cole’s books were published but some of the mistakes in them still persist.

Many of the items in some of the military groups are mis-identified or overpriced. And occasionally there is a bargain as I found lately.
