collector Posted July 21, 2021 Share #1 Posted July 21, 2021 This is for sale in my area, I'm not interested in buying but am posting to see if it's a cool one. Been for sale for a while; overpriced?
mikedon Posted July 21, 2021 Share #2 Posted July 21, 2021 It is not a Mark 1 but is a pilot's survival knife, (pre 1957). I believe it is a Camillus knife, shown as #7, page 77 of Cole III and #3 page 644 of Bill Walters book. I think it might be a little overpriced without a sheath. I don't think it is rare as I have a couple.
sactroop Posted July 21, 2021 Share #3 Posted July 21, 2021 From what Frank Trzaska wrote about these knives the sterile ones should be Camillus made. I agree that these really aren't rare but are often mis-identified. IMHO, the knife is very over priced, but maybe I'm stuck in the past. I usually pass on knives without a proper sheath most times these days.
Doctorofwar Posted July 21, 2021 Share #4 Posted July 21, 2021 It seems overpriced to me as well. A lot of things have come to light since Cole’s books were published but some of the mistakes in them still persist.
collector Posted July 21, 2021 Author Share #5 Posted July 21, 2021 Many of the items in some of the military groups are mis-identified or overpriced. And occasionally there is a bargain as I found lately.
EmperorWangDong Posted July 22, 2021 Share #6 Posted July 22, 2021 To me its an $80 post-war knife with no sheath.
