I was given this patch by the man who designed it and had  them made in Okinawa (he thinks) in the 1990's.

The translation of the Latin is "It's not easy being green"

If you are SF qualified you will understand.

I have seen copies of these being sold on eBay, slightly altered, as Vietnam patches.

But here is an original signed example.

He also has metal beret badges in this design "in a box in the basement". He's looking and I wish him luck. LOL

It's actually a patch for Special Forces Operational Detachment ("SFOD")-132, Company C, 1st Battalion, 11th Special Forces Group (Airborne). There ae a couple of variations of this patch. The first batch was made for the team in 1984. The red, white, and blue background is in the same colors/design as the 11th Special Forces Group's beret flash. And, as you mention Boy Howdy, there are fakes of this patch that have been made.

sfcollector: my typo era in the title. Should have been 11th SFG.

1984 sounds about right. I'll ask Capt. A.

If a Moderator could correct the title  to 11th I would appreciate it.

Do you know "Capt. A."?

I'm seeing him this weekend.

You are welcome manayunkman.
