carrabassett Posted July 17, 2021 Share #1 Posted July 17, 2021 I have a buddy who has this helmet and was looking for any info regarding both the officer (Capt. L.T. Lee O-363969) and the paint scheme/markings. Appears there was a red stripe around the helmet and the stenciled letters L P on the front before it was repainted? It's a FS/FB and the liner is a CAPAC but not named. Didn't get a chance to take a lot of pictures but would love any help or info. Thanks! Paddyd00 Posted July 17, 2021 Share #4 Posted July 17, 2021 At first it looked ... colorwise (2nd Pic Down) .... to me like a Post War repaint but don't think they would have left the Insignia on Plus the Stripe. Hard to tell. Probably is a Period Repaint. Regardless ... Super Nice lid your friend has. Love those classic looking bars Z

fight Posted July 17, 2021 Share #6 Posted July 17, 2021 I'd agree with a period repaint. I like the look of this one, love the cracking of the follow me bar. I'll be interested to see if someone can identify the markings. Alec
carrabassett Posted July 17, 2021 Author Share #7 Posted July 17, 2021 Thanks so much to everyone so far. I was wondering if the red “symbol” on the liner might be the outline of a DI crest? Also, given his age, would he have gone overseas? Just curious.
Burning Hazard Posted July 17, 2021 Share #8 Posted July 17, 2021 Interesting helmet! Definitely period re-paint from a possibly re-cycled helmet (?) Never seen an "LP" helmet with red band, my first thought is Military Police (MP) but "LP"? Same with the red marking on liner, never seen another like that, quite the mystery that hopefully someone this board will solve. Pat
