dhcoleterracina Posted July 16, 2021 Share #1 Posted July 16, 2021 Arrived yesterday, surfaced from a Salvation Army store in San Diego. This flag is similar to other Navy #7 sized flags (about 5'x9') that I own except that this one was made at Cavite P.I. in 1939. Apparently we had a Navy base at Cavite since the turn of the century however we lost the base to Japanese forces just after December 7th. We regained control in 1945 but I don't think we continued to make flags there after the war. Marked in the same style as those from Mare Island. trenchbuff Posted July 17, 2021 Share #4 Posted July 17, 2021 Very very nice. I believe you're right. Even though the base continued to operate after the war I don't believe they continued to make flags.
