Help requested to ID name on WW 1 pocket knife.

My friend has one of those French ring pull knives from WW 1.

On one side it is etched with;

L.W.Kirby

On the other side it says:

11.11.11. 18

VIC

MY

We are guessing he survived the war and carved the Armistice info in after.

If there is any way to find any information about Mr. Kirby it will be greatly appreciated.
