Interesting Helmet - Aluminum or Brass?

Picked up this helmet yesterday.  Any info would be appreciated.  
Seller said it was his Grandfather’s helmet.  Grandpa served in WWI.  Also picked up the gas mask and medallion with it.

It’s a brass factory helmet.

 

Brass does not cause sparks which in turn can cause a fire.

By the way Dillsburg is a very small town.

 

A forum member is a police officer in Dillsburg.

 

I personally have picked a bunch of stuff out of the town.

 

At one time the last living daughter of a Civil War veteran lived in Dillsburg and I had a chance to interview her in the late 90s.

Exactly the same I post years ago : They are Band or veteran (américan legion) parade helmet. You can find Brass and aluminium helmet with or without hole for insignia. On the post you could see some pictures of interwar band.  Nice example you have !
