Hello all, I picked this up recently. A Japanese flag captured on Iwo Jima. I sadly don’t have any information on the veteran but as the story goes the flag came from the Japanese soldier that is KIA in the photo. He was bayoneted through the heart. Small blood stains can be seen on the flag as seen in the photos below. I was just wondering what kind of soldiers are in these photos? There is also what appears to be a small Japanese child in the group photo, he is seen on the very right wearing a white shirt. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Anyways I hope everyone enjoys! 3B94E6FE-54C3-445C-BD00-BF0C246A737B.jpeg.c67b2a35be0552641d255d9262781bb5.jpeg8DA9D945-7119-427B-9742-694C5A7F0FBB.jpeg.e582f76d678511d1feb3af09c2aee481.jpeg6C8FF9F8-14E4-412C-93AD-FF62C0C46DE9.jpeg.05550ca1cdf28ab4e3709e3190bba68d.jpegAB2C2289-AA5C-42CC-9FC8-7CF12DE8EA0C.jpeg.da0765307e80bd70730c6269b0b87f8d.jpeg88BB1813-EC1F-4B1D-93D1-81A6EF9EB557.jpeg.008a8aed2b90194af16355323d20e6df.jpeg

Without any information on the US veteran you may need to move this to the World Militaria Forum. There seems to be a lot of interest in Japanese flags over there.

The Japanese soldiers name was Kaji (surname) 啓三郎 Keizaburo (given name)

I Hate Moths

Great photos and artifact !

If these can't be in the spoils of war, they should be moved to Ephemera, Photographs, and Military Art Work.

Thank you for sharing this.
