an 8 decade late memorial

hey there all, i'd like to take a moment to remember my great uncle who went mia in the second world war. i never met him, i was reminded of him while going through a family picture book, and began looking into him. he was reported missing-in-action on the 21st of May, 1945, in the area of Okinawa, he was with the 307th infantry regiment, of the 77th infantry division, he was a private first class of the us army. i posted this as well to see if theres any way to find other service records that any of you know, the fellows name was john, i will not reveal last name for some personal privacy.

Hey Daswrack here’s the only information I could find. Sadly I don’t have access at the moment to morning reports or after action reports as WW2 reports on such for the 307th aren’t digitally available. thank you charles, i never saw anything about awards, are those unit or troop specific? a while ago the meyer part of my family split because of religion back in the day so it might be hard to track down anyone closer to him, i just found him in a family photo book with his name and "mia"
