Scottz63 Posted July 2, 2021 #1 Posted July 2, 2021 Just picked this up. USAF .38 special dump pouch. Vietnam era, 1972 dated. Cool little thing.
silverplate Posted July 3, 2021 #2 Posted July 3, 2021 What is a dump pouch? Never heard that term before.
gomorgan Posted July 3, 2021 #3 Posted July 3, 2021 When unsnapped the pouch then hung open end down and the shells fell into your hand for loading, very common method of carrying your extra rounds in the wheel gun era.
Scottz63 Posted July 3, 2021 Author #4 Posted July 3, 2021 Nick name sort of thing for these. This pouch is generally worn upside down. When you open the pouch flap down, the ammo "dumps" out into your hand. There is also another hidden snap inside. You can wear it right side up and then using the hidden snap inside you can flip it down and also :dump" the ammo. This requires an extra step though. Better to just wear it upside down.
silverplate Posted July 11, 2021 #5 Posted July 11, 2021 Interesting concept. Thanks for the clarification.
