WWII Paratrooper Glider Mag Covers

Just something a little different, several years ago I wanted to create a background for some of my M3 knives while photographing so I purchased a few WWII paratrooper/airborne/glider related WWII magazines. Well that morphed into a collection of about 100 magazines, all WWII (1945 or before) or prior except for a couple.  At one time an author wanted to include them as a chapter to one of his books but I lost interest and it never happened. I was rearranging one of my displays and thought I would put some out on the floor.  Many are recognizable but some are not very common. Admin please delete if not appropriate. Regards

Not sure, but the guy on the cover of the LIFE (M1-Garland),  was a 1st Lt in the 508th Parachute Infantry Regt, 82nd Airborne Division.  Not sure of his name anymore?  Photo taken during Operation Market-Garden in Holland.

Thank you a very nice display of magazine covers.

 

Mapman,  the name of the paratrooper on the front cover of the August 14th 1944 issue of LIFE magazine is Lt. Kelso Horne, 508th PIR, 82nd Airborne.

 

Lt. Horne survived the war and returned to the states, I believe he lived into the mid 2000's, his ashes were brought over to Normandy as per his wishes and interred in a monument to the fight on hill 95 on the outskirts of La Haye du Puits, possibly where the iconic photograph of him was taken.
