otter42 Posted June 23, 2021 Share #1 Posted June 23, 2021 Not sure if this is a flare gun, and who made it. Thanks for any help. Ken
iron bender Posted June 23, 2021 Share #2 Posted June 23, 2021 What's the bore diameter? Sure looks like a flare pistol as simple as it is.
otter42 Posted June 23, 2021 Author Share #3 Posted June 23, 2021 Sorry, I don't have it in hand, only pictures. I'm try to get back and measure it.
Brian Keith Posted June 24, 2021 Share #4 Posted June 24, 2021 Interesting, but flair guns don't need or generally have sights. This appears to be a home built or underground built firearm. Lots of place around the world where firearms are unobtainable, people make them. Thanks for posting it. BKW
Backtheattack Posted June 24, 2021 Share #5 Posted June 24, 2021 Looks to me like a zipgun, too. With the trigger as point it could have a calibre of .45.
otter42 Posted June 25, 2021 Author Share #6 Posted June 25, 2021 Got more detailed photos. The rod under the barrel is a shell extractor. Looks like an Anchor or a 4 on the barrel. Couldn't find any more markings.

iron bender Posted June 26, 2021 Share #8 Posted June 26, 2021 Definitely not a flare gun (that I'm aware of). I agree with the above about .45, possibly .410. Smoothbore too. I really want to shoot that handsome pistol! That would be a perfect little shotgun for out in the wild!
pararaftanr2 Posted June 27, 2021 Share #9 Posted June 27, 2021 Could it be a vintage starter pistol? No need for rifling if firing a blank?
Story Posted June 27, 2021 Share #10 Posted June 27, 2021 See if a .410 shotshell fits the chamber.
Charlie Flick Posted June 29, 2021 Share #11 Posted June 29, 2021 I don't recognize it but am wondering if it could be an example of a Viet Cong or other guerilla or underground army made firearm. The VC came up with some amazing stuff.
otter42 Posted June 29, 2021 Author Share #12 Posted June 29, 2021 I was watching this on a auction, but let it go. Thanks for all your thoughts and comments.
digi-shots Posted June 29, 2021 Share #13 Posted June 29, 2021 Looks like the grips are made of horn.
jsalberry92 Posted August 1, 2021 Share #14 Posted August 1, 2021 Yeah, this is screaming Chinese or VC workshop pistol to me.

Usually flare guns don't have sights on them. It looks like a .45 caliber VC or Chinese adaption. (Or some sort of knock-off adapted pistol.) It doesn't look like a factory pistol to me. Interesting find. Best Regards, Connor
