He was wounded at Franklin, and is seen with his finger sticking out from where the bullet pierced his Federal dress hat and 4th Corps badge. A 1/6th tintype of a Confederate soldier wearing a pleated frock coat and missing his right arm. These frocks were a staple in the south, particularly the Carolinas and Kentucky (among other states).
