Can anyone identify the hallmark on this DUI? It’s 33rd Inf Regt and pinned to a uniform from the 1930’s. I can’t make the name out, even with a magnifying glass. Thanks

Your DIs are not 1930s, they are 1950s and later - the back has what is called a "starburst" (STB) pattern. Additionally, the scrolls w/ mottos move down to the positions of yours post WW 2,  except for one which was made by NSM in sterling.

The pix are out of focus, so unable to read whatever may be the HM.  Cannot tell if mottos are black or blue.  Known manufacturers of the starburst are:

Orber Manufacturing Co (I-0)

Monarch Military Products Inc (M-12)

Vanguard Military Equipment (1-V)

There are other manufacturers of the 33rd IR DIs, but none if their examples have the STB back.

The starburst pattern is discussed more thoroughly in the OD 11 Trading Post.

Tred Oakleaf found a Vanguard starburst 50s one, not tanished. it seem oakleaf's are vanguards from the 50s. as we see the 1V and other marks like this one.
