Wild DUI, funny image! - 64th Engineer Topographic Bn. 'Topo Joe'

Saw this crazy DUI on an overseas hat in an antique mall while on vacation. The overseas hat is piped in bight red. Is it an arty unit?

That is "Topo Joe", symbol and DI for 64th Engineer Topographic Bn. They had a patch w/ him on it, too. Piping looks red and white to me.

The unit also had embr DIs, in this case, JM w/ bullion.

Well, I didn’t get it. Looks like I’m going to have to drive back through. Worth the $18 day plus extra mileage?

I would say so, DUI itself goes for $25 or so. Would be a bonus if the cap is named.

If the DI is theatre made it sells for more, and most are theatre made.

Went a little out of my way today to go back and get it. Enamel finish, no markings on the back, base metal has a copper tone, small screw back, laundry marked H-1440 on the inside.

Well worth going out of your way.  I picked up 3 of these (including a bullion one) a few months ago, now in a friends collection.
