Usmc2004 Posted June 17, 2021 Share #1 Posted June 17, 2021 I recently took a chance on a LOT of what the seller called "CG-4 Waco glider restoration", that was what the box it was found in was labeled. They stated it was purchased at the estate of a military collector who was involved with aircraft restoration. I am wondering if anyone can help me to confirm what the glider fabric looks like and if these pieces could be the same type of material used on Glider skin. AustinO Posted June 18, 2021 Share #2 Posted June 18, 2021 Hey John, if it was a local auction, it could have come from the Waco Glider that was restored for the Fagen museum about 10-15 years ago. I saw it while it was being restored in Eagan, and the material does indeed look like this. As far as I know it was just the frame, and it didnt have fabric on it when discovered - but it might have (I saw it when it was near completion). If you havent made it over to Granite Falls to see the Fagen museum, it's well worth it as you'd be able to see the glider in person.

I grabbed it off eBay, I got a little more info from the seller, they recalled that the collector had a small private museum somewhere in the New Jersey area and the fabric that was removed was all the damaged sections that was to be replaced. I can’t really confirm any of that but it’s a start, they are trying to dig up what ever info they can from where they got it. I think there is a restored glider at the cradle of aviation museum in New York, and they were built on Long Island during the war, I suppose it could be possible someone has one in a private collection.
