I wasn’t sure where to post this...

I’m looking for audio recordings of WWII radio broadcasts... in particular the ones that were preceded with “Beethoven Fifth” dot, dot, dot, dash.  Broadcasts that had hidden messages intended for the resistance.

I’ve seen some of this online and in a few you tubes but wondered if there was a particular cassette recording of these “messages”.  I know cassettes are a bit dated but I have an “old time” style cassette radio.

Thanks for the help!

I spent 30 years in radio and would be surprised if there actually is a real recording of that. When audio tape came along it became possible to easily make high quality recordings - before then, a remote broadcast would be recorded on a disk similar to recorded vinyl disks. The recorder actually cut the groove in the disk as it recorded the sound. It was used for limited special purposes and most news broadcasts were not recorded. YouTube does have one of the most famous recordings of WWII: Edward R Murrow reporting on the blitz in London in 1940. archive.org has many links to WWII era recordings and if there's one with the dit dit dit dah beginning, it should be listed there.

Thanks for the links... Edward was did many broadcasts.

I remember finding an online broadcast, might have been in French, along with English translation: “dot, dot dot, dash followed by “John has a long mustache” but can’t seem to find it... might have been from movie The Longest Day but based on true broadcast.
