Son’s In Service Pennant

This pennant was my grandmothers. She couldn’t find one with 6 stars so she added two stars. Her sons saw some awful stuff during the war. All made it home albeit a little insecure for a couple of them that had served in the pacific. They had serious nightmares for years. One was a marine the other a sailor. The marine served on Peleliu and Saipan and maybe Okinawa. He was in a bad way for years. The sailor served on the USS Vincennes. Sunk in the slot at Guadalcanal. Anyway my aunt gave this pennant to me.

Wow. such a nice personalized one and with a family history!

Be sure to document who those men were and keep it with it for the next caretaker.

As a side note- the "upside down" stars were occasionally used that way to represent those in the Navy - as it was how the Navy wore them. And many times, specific stars were designated to specific people.

Ronnie,  Thats a great piece of family history!

I agree with Jerry, find a way to preserve (shadow box) and document it for the next generation.
